Sabrina Alfin, CID, Allied ASID, LEED GA
An award-winning designer, Sabrina is a California Certified Interior Designer, a member of the California North Chapter of ASID, a LEED Green Associate, and a member of NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association). Her studio, Sabrina Alfin Interiors, Inc. was created in 2011, with the intent of “greening” her clients choices for luxury residential interiors. She has done extensive research into green design resources and practices and maintains a blog that keeps her followers up-to-date on recent discoveries and projects. With residential design projects completed from the mid-Peninsula to Monterey, Sabrina’s design philosophy is simply this:
“My approach to interior design is to reflect my clients’ tastes, lifestyles, well-loved collections, and accomplishments in as beautiful, functional, and sustainable manner as possible. I love to create juxtapositions: of color and texture, of new and old, and of hard and soft. If clients feel truly at home when they walk through the front door, I know I’ve done my job.”
With her keen project management, collaboration, and leadership skills honed by hundreds of deadline-driven client engagements in her former role as an advertising executive at some of the world’s best-known agencies in New York, Boston, and San Francisco, she brings to her design practice an ability to see and explain the big picture, to guide clients through a complex process, and to deliver on the details. As a former colleague once quipped, “If you want to get something done and done right, call Sabrina.”
She holds an A.S. in Interior Design from Cañada College, and a B.S. in Mass Communication from Boston University. Both degrees were awarded with honors.
Sabrina resides in San Mateo, CA with her husband Jim, her three (almost) grown children Jake, Sydney, and Michael, and her two shelter kitties, Mocha and Fifi.

“Sabrina Alfin Interiors, Inc. has been an excellent interior design firm to work with on the bathroom remodel we completed. Sabrina’s space plan rearrangement of this small (7′ x 9′) bathroom turned a narrow, segmented and dark bathroom into a beautiful, open, light filled space. Her idea to add a skylight over the relocated tub and to use white subway tiles really transformed the entire space. It now feels much more spacious and inviting, along with providing much needed storage space…I would highly recommend Sabrina Alfin Interiors if you are looking for fresh ideas with a flair. I look forward to being able to work together again soon.”

“Sabrina came to look at our woeful TV room and immediately had a great suggestion about the layout. It changed everything! Even more importantly, she listened intently to my vision for the room in terms of fabrics, etc. and found the perfect choices. I never would have had the time to hunt them down or skill to put them together. I even had an employee at a furniture store tell me she wanted to move in because she had “fabric envy.” I love how the room turned out and couldn’t be happier with the help I got from Sabrina.”

“Sabrina is very professional. My project was living room and bathroom remodel. Sabrina has terrific follow through and is always there for you. She comes prepared and her designs are fabulous. She works with your budget.
She’s great. Give her a chance and you will be impressed. In today’s world she is a gem.”

“Sabrina Alfin was instrumental in helping us develop a new design and layout for our kitchen renovation project, including a totally renovated kitchen, upgraded family room, and a new desk area. She listened to our needs and requirements, understood the budget constraints, and incorporated those items into the new design. She responded with multiple options that met the design criteria, including new multiple kitchen layouts and several materials/finishes, which we then worked with Sabrina on to pick the optimal solution. She collaboratively worked with us, the general contractor, and the custom cabinetmaker to schedule and deliver the project on time. She was organized, detail-oriented, and helped move the project from idea to completion. The finished product was delivered on time and truly fabulous. We highly recommend Sabrina and would solicit her services again.”

“We contacted Sabrina to help us update both our son’s bedroom to create more function and style, as well as the Master Bedroom to find ways to make it a more restful oasis. She really keyed in to our love of clean, mid-century modern design that is in keeping with the style of our home, while making sure we could still relax in comfort. She listened well to our needs and preferences and designed with that in mind while still adding her own creative touches to the updates. Her vision and her color sense helped us navigate the process smoothly. Sabrina is very organized and great at managing the disparate pieces of a big project. We really liked working with her and have already referred her to friends. We’re hoping we can do another project with her again soon as we love our newly renovated bedrooms!”

“We recently used Sabrina for an interior color consult for our home. We have a tendency to stick with the same neutral colors. Sabrina encouraged us to take more risk with color. She was right! She has a highly collaborative style, which we really appreciated. Sabrina is fun, direct, and easy to work with. She is incredibly organized and punctual with deadlines. If you are looking for a designer who will bring lots of great energy to your home design project, look no further!”

“Sabrina and I worked together on a beach house remodeling project in Pacific Grove, CA. After meeting with the clients and determining their budget and their wish list, she did a great job of communicating her vision with both drawings and samples, made sure all my sub-contractors had their materials on time, and was easy to work with when minor issues needed to be addressed. She was collaborative with me and my crew, respecting both our roles and our expertise. Sabrina was always reachable to make decisions along the way, which made it easy to keep the job on time and on budget. The project turned out great: we were happy and the homeowners were thrilled. I would recommend Sabrina’s design approach to any of my clients, and would like to work with her again soon.”

“Sabrina made a great first impression with her professionalism and thorough attention to detail. Upon my first experience of her work I was stunned by the creativity of her design, her style is sophisticated but unassuming. I find it very easy to breathe in the spaces she designs. After getting to know her better I think the most impressive thing about her working style is her ability to make decisions and articulate her rationale concisely and effectively.”

“I had the opportunity to collaborate with Sabrina on a recent project in San Francisco. She demonstrated strong interior design expertise and contributed an abundance of ideas with regard to the integration of interior solutions with the existing architectural features we were working with. Her presentation was extremely thorough and showcased her attentiveness to completely understand and listen to the client’s needs. Sabrina’s enthusiasm is a welcome addition to any design project.”

“We were not very clear on what we wanted for our living and dining room when we originally contacted Sabrina. She came and just talked to us to get an idea of what styles seemed to reflect us. After taking time to research colors, fabrics and furniture design, she came to us with several detailed design options that we could then begin the process of selecting what felt ‘right’ for us. In the end, we ended up with a fantastic living and dining room that everyone (including us) just loves.”
